Hauke Smidt’s talk focused on his work in the field of microbial ecology, he gave theoretical insights in metagenomic methodology and the team toured the campus at the Wageningen University. Furthermore Cocky Eek talked about her work: how one basic form can generate endless forms; that external forces like wind or the glowing Noctilucaas in the sea were the co-creators of an event and how to go beyond the space of our sensory perception. By pressing some cold-water balloons as intimate chambers against our ears, we wondered, while ticking on them, how it feels to be a cell. She imagines the 90% non-human bacterial world as colorful compositions with different densities; where inside/outside of various viscosities in lipid leaky membranes are acting upon each other; growing and dividing in an endless repetitive stream.
